Why Not Essential Oils ?
My first encounter with a diffuser was back in 2017. I was working as an electrician on the TWA hotel in New York as it was going up from the ground. There were no elevators so everything had to be carried up the stairs everyday. The work had a dramatic effect on my body, especially since it was in the blistering cold !! I decided to take care of my body since I don’t have kids yet so I went to see a chiropractor. This is where my life changed. I walked into a room that had the lights slightly dimmed, soft instrumental music and a sweet aroma of of what I remember was lavender. I inquired about the smell and the doctor informed me on this object in the room that was changing color and had steam coming out. So I started my interrogation.
Essential oils are what we would consider the main foundation for aromatherapy. They are natural oils that directly derived from plants fruits and nuts. Essential oils have many benefits and I will list a few. As per healthline.com,
Peppermint can be used to boost energy.
Lavender can be used to help relieve stress.
Sandalwood can be used to calm nerves and helps with focus.
Bergamot can be used to reduce stress and improve skin conditions.
Rosemary can improve your mood and reduce anxiety.
Chamomile is great for relaxation.
There are many other ways you can use essential oils as well. For example, rodents do not like the smell of peppermint so a few drops in a bucket with water after you mop your floor will surely keep them away and out. Lemon ( or most citrus ) can be used as odor eliminators. I’ve tried these myself and yes they work !!
With all this said, my goal wasn’t to become your therapist or your natural/organic doctor. That is why I focus more on fragrance oils. Being able to create memories, trigger positive moods and set vibes using your desired scent, to me is more of a sense of art that shouldn’t be ignored. Fragrance oils linger much longer than essential oils, can be more or less potent than essential oils, and where there has been about 90 settled on natural essential oils, there are over 2000 scents of fragrance oils !! Neither one is better than the other, it just depends on your preference. Personally, I recommend them both.
Lastly, this I must say and it goes for both essential oils and fragrance oils. Too much of anything is no good for your health !!! Oil diffuser are designed to have certain run times. Be mindful how long your diffuser is running with the amount of drops you put in. The longer you want to run your diffuser, while you’re there, the less drops you should put in.
